Luxury Without Compromise: How Baglietto Is Shaping the Future of Sustainable Yachting
BAGLIETTO MY ENTERPRISE
Luxury yachting is entering a new era—one where innovation, comfort, and environmental responsibility can exist without compromise. With more than 170 years of maritime heritage, Baglietto is helping lead that evolution through hybrid propulsion, hydrogen technology, energy-efficient systems, and a more holistic approach to yacht sustainability.
We spoke with Baglietto about how the iconic Italian shipyard is redefining luxury at sea, from silent electric cruising to the future of hydrogen-powered yachts.
Baglietto has over 170 years of heritage — how do you balance that legacy with building the future of sustainable yachting?
We can say that our history is our foundation, but innovation is our direction. Baglietto has always been a pioneer since the very beginning of his history, and today that spirit guides our commitment to sustainable technologies. We are deeply involved in driving the energy transition within the yachting sector, working with major partners to develop next-generation propulsion systems. This approach allows us to honor our heritage while actively shaping a greener future for luxury yachting.

As pioneers in hybrid propulsion, how does this technology enhance the onboard experience?
Hybrid propulsion dramatically elevates comfort and performance. The new Hybrid system we are fitting on board on our latest hybrid yachts allows switching between multiple navigation modes—diesel, diesel-electric and full-electric. This ensures maximum flexibility and optimized efficiency. It also enables exceptionally quiet cruising, with reduced vibrations and improved onboard comfort. Furthermore, the system is extremely compac. All of this results in a smoother, quieter, and more enjoyable experience at sea.
How important are features like silent cruising and energy autonomy for today’s yacht owners?
They are essential—and increasingly expected. Owners today want to enjoy nature without intrusive noise or emissions. Our hybrid system allows nearly silent, vibration-free navigation in full-electric mode, creating the ideal environment for relaxation, especially at anchor. This allows owners to spend more time in remote or protected areas with minimal environmental impact.

What kind of timeline do you envision for wider adoption of these technologies?
We are moving quickly. Our new hybrid systems are already offered as part of our production both in the TLine and DOM Line, marking a significant step in mainstream adoption of low-impact propulsion. The Bzero hydrogen system is mostly ready to be fitted onboard of a new yacht of 62m starting 2028. Broader adoption will depend on regulation, infrastructure, and customer demand, but Baglietto is already positioned among the leaders bringing these systems to market
Beyond propulsion, how important is the full lifecycle of the yacht when it comes to sustainability?
It's fundamental. Propulsion is only part of the equation—true sustainability involves the materials selected, onboard energy management, and the environmental impact of the vessel from construction to end-of-life. This holistic approach ensures every phase of ownership is aligned with environmental responsibility.
BAGLIETTO MY ANDALA
What does “sustainable luxury” look and feel like on the water today?
Luxury is no longer defined by excess, but increasingly reimagined as a space to be lived in deep connection with the surrounding environment. A mindful sensory experience that favors the pleasure of navigation over the thrill of performance. Natural materials replace elaborate superstructures, while silence and wonder stand in contrast to speed and noise. At its core lies well-being and the quality of life on board: essence over appearance.
For Baglietto, the future of luxury yachting is not simply about going farther or faster—it is about creating a more thoughtful relationship between life onboard and the sea itself. Through hybrid propulsion, hydrogen innovation, responsible materials, and quieter cruising, the shipyard is showing how sustainability can enhance the luxury experience rather than limit it.
As yacht owners increasingly prioritize comfort, autonomy, and environmental responsibility, Baglietto’s vision points toward a future where true luxury is defined as much by what you preserve as by what you experience.
