Ocean Alexander 40P: Italian Design on a Grand Scale

A pool overlooking the stern, five guest cabins, and plenty of places to disappear with a book.

Ocean Alexander’s largest Puro puts its 132 feet to good use.

At 132 feet, the Ocean Alexander 40P has room for a crowd. Its appeal, though, may be having enough space to occasionally escape one.

The new flagship of the Puro Series pairs Italian designer Giorgio M. Cassetta’s sculpted exterior with a layout that balances gathering places and private retreats. Five guest cabins, outdoor lounges, and a pool at the stern give owners plenty to work into a week aboard.

Scheduled for its world debut at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the 40P joins the 30P and 35P to complete the collection. Puro means “pure” in Italian; here, the idea takes shape in clean lines, broad windows, and rooms arranged around the view.

The Beauty of Simplicity

Cassetta developed the 40P with naval architect Andrea Agrusta of NavalHEAD. The exterior combines long stretches of glazing with sculpted surfaces, giving a substantial yacht a relatively uncluttered profile.

The windows do some of the decorating. From the salon and dining area, the scenery becomes part of the room—a welcome advantage when your address changes with the itinerary.

That same approach carries through the smaller 30P and 35P, giving the Puro collection a family resemblance without making all three yachts identical.

A Floating Waterfront Residence

With ten guests aboard, a good layout needs to account for both dinner together and a little time apart.

The yacht's planned arrangement accommodates up to ten guests across five cabins, including an owner's suite positioned forward on the main deck.

Four additional guest cabins are situated below, providing private accommodations for family and friends.

The main salon is envisioned as a sophisticated yet welcoming gathering place, with generous lounge seating, expansive windows, and a dedicated dining area.

The overall concept favors open, flowing spaces that feel connected to the surrounding water.

Rather than treating the interior and exterior as separate environments, the 40P brings the two together through its use of glazing, carefully placed gathering spaces, and inviting outdoor decks.

Life Beyond the Salon

While the interiors promise an elegant retreat, the outdoor spaces may be among the yacht's most memorable features.

Published deck plans reveal an expansive aft entertaining area with a swimming pool, creating a private waterfront escape.

Multiple outdoor lounges offer opportunities for dining, socializing, and relaxing with uninterrupted views of the horizon.

The lower-deck arrangement also provides space that can be configured for wellness or recreation, including possibilities for a gym, spa, or diving activities.

The configurable lower-deck space is particularly useful. A gym, spa, or diving setup would each give that area a different purpose, allowing owners to plan around what they actually enjoy doing aboard.

And with a pool overlooking the stern, anyone who prefers a less ambitious afternoon has a perfectly respectable alternative.

Engineering Behind the Elegance

The published specifications list twin MAN V16 engines producing 2,600 horsepower each and a fuel capacity of 7,999 gallons.

Behind the guest spaces, an OctoPlex control and monitoring system helps the crew oversee onboard electrical and mechanical functions. It’s less photogenic than the pool, but managing those systems is a substantial part of keeping life aboard comfortable.

The Fort Lauderdale debut will give visitors their first opportunity to see how these plans translate aboard.

On paper, the 40P’s strongest quality is the choice of places to spend an afternoon: by the pool, around a dining table, or somewhere quiet with the door closed. Even on a yacht this size, a favorite corner matters.
